The Executive District Officer Education Karachi, Professor Raees Alvi announced on Wednesday night that all colleges and technical institutes in Karachi region will remain closed on Thursday and Friday. The step has been taken on the request of Sindh Home Department. Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui while talking to PPI on telephone confirmed the report, saying colleges were closed down to lessen pressure on police and to make available extra force for deploying at the places where more vigilance is necessary.

The minister, however, clarified that the universities and schools will remain open on Thursday and Friday.
